History will show that the Indiana Pacers defeated Philadelphia on Tuesday night.
And that's good enough for them, even if the team they defeated at First Union Center, 87-77, more closely resembled a developmental team.
Philadelphia's Allen Iverson, Aaron McKie and Eric Snow sat out the game with injuries. Center Dikembe Mutombo played just 25 minutes because of foul trouble and was ineffective most of the time he did play. And backup center Matt Geiger sat out the second half with a sore knee.
That left the 76ers with forwards Derrick Coleman and Matt Harpring, promising rookie guard Speedy Claxton and a cast of misfits.
"We're still playing exhibitions," said Philadelphia coach Larry Brown, whose team dropped to 0-4. "These other teams are playing regular-season games, and it's hard."
