Considering he had 24 points three nights earlier, it wasn't a huge surprise
that Cavaliers guard Wesley Person scored 25 in Saturday's 100-96 overtime win over Miami. But Person did turn some heads by grabbing 14 rebounds, the most in his five seasons with the Cavs and one off his career high. Person, an eight-year veteran, has a career rebounding average of 3.5. ``I'm concentrating on (rebounding) because we're small up front,'' Person said. ``The guards have to get back and help.'' Person has been able to get more boards because teams often are putting a big guard on Cavs point guard Andre Miller and a small guard on the 6-foot-6, 200-pound Person, who is not regarded as a physical player. ``He's taking advantage of it,'' Cavs coach John Lucas said.
NOT YET MILLER TIME -- Lucas continues to be hard on Miller, whom he believes has to work even harder to be bona fide star. Miller, who has been bothered by a back injury for more than a week, was strong Saturday with 21 points, 12 assists and just two turnovers. In the previous two games, though, Miller had 14 turnovers. ``Even though his back his hurting, he has to do more work to stay in his class,'' Lucas said. ``I don't want him to a be a one-month wonder. I expect him to get better as the season goes along,, and I'm going to keep on him.'' Lucas said Miller, a three-year veteran, is ``a year behind where he should be in decision-making.'' The Cavs long have been trying to turn Miller, averaging 17.3 points and an NBA-high 10.9 assists, into more of a leader.

ENERGETIC RICKY -- Lucas was displeased that Cavs guard Ricky Davis made many gyrations toward the Miami bench. Davis played last season for the Heat before being traded. ``I just wanted him to leave (Heat coach) Pat Riley and them alone until the game was over,'' Lucas said. ``He was jumping up and bouncing. I've got enough bounce for all of us.'' Davis said he bounces ``around every game.'' But Davis, who has criticized Riley's style previously, then took another shot at him. ``We've got freedom, and we can free lance and just play basketball,'' said Davis, who had 12 points off the bench. ``They're stuck in the same program and same post inside game, so it's kind of easy to pick them off and stop them.''
