If the Jazz ever are to be an above-.500 team this season, the time to make their move is now.
Utah played as if it knew that full well Saturday night, hanging on at the Delta Center to beat Golden State 111-101 behind Karl Malone's season-high 39-point performance.
That the victory was over the 8-13 Warriors came with no apologies, either.
"You look at our record, and we can't be considered much better than an average team ourselves," said Jazz guard John Stockton, who did his part with 13 assists and 15 points.
The win was the third in a row for the Jazz, now 9-11 heading into a week in which they face Dallas on Monday night, Minnesota on Wednesday night, Portland on Friday night and, to kick off a five-game road trip, San Antonio on Saturday night.
