John Amaechi has considered the possibility, and it leaves him heartsick.

As the Jazz embark on back-to-back games against Miami (5:30 MST tonight, FSN) and Orlando at AmericanAirlines Arena, Amaechi is not sure he will play.

"It worries me a little bit," he said.

In particular, Amaechi is concerned about returning to Orlando, where he spent the last two seasons and left after what he still considers boorish treatment.

If he does not "play . . . and play well" in Wednesday night's game against the team that Amaechi says broke promises and turned its back on him, "it would be devastating."

The problem, of course, is Amaechi's failure to provide what the Jazz thought he would give them when he signed a four-year, $11 million contract last summer. Through 24 games, Amaechi averages 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds in 13.1 minutes. He is shooting 28.8 percent from the field.

Lately, those numbers are even worse.
