Brian Schmitz of the Orlando Sentinel reports: The Orlando Magic could learn today whether star Grant Hill will need surgery -- his third operation in 20 months -- to repair his troublesome left ankle. Hill's medical saga intensified Monday as Hill and Magic officials sought advice from five doctors via a conference call from the RDV Sportsplex.

The parties will gather today for another call, said General Manager John Gabriel after letting Hill "digest" what options had been discussed.

Asked if surgery for Hill was still a possibility, Gabriel said, "Yeah, could be ... sure."

The plan for Hill and the Magic is not to prolong his absence in the lineup any longer if conventional methods fail.

"The key," said Gabriel, "is getting it right."
