About the Pacers: Indiana went into Friday's home game against Detroit having lost six of nine. The Pacers, however, have won five of their past eight on the road. The Pacers have lost six of the past nine meetings, including an 89-87 setback Dec. 31 at Conseco Fieldhouse, when they allowed the Heat to rally from a 46-36 halftime deficit behind 29 points from shooting guard Eddie Jones and 14 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists from point guard Rod Strickland. Guard Reggie Miller was limited to 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting in the teams' first meeting. Indiana lost both of its visits to AmericanAirlines Arena by double digits last season. Indiana enters 7-8 on the second night of back-to-back sets. Center Jermaine O'Neal (knee) is doubtful. Guards Jamison Brewer (groin) and Norm Richardson (ankle) are on the injured list.
About the Heat: The team is seeking to extend its winning streak to a season-best four in a row. The Heat's only other winning streak this season, a three-game run, was followed by a three-game losing streak. The Heat has lost 12 of its past 14 home games but has won six of nine overall. This is one of only five home games in January. Center Alonzo Mourning is shooting 24 of 38 and averaging 8.7 rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 20.1 points over the last three. The Heat is 2-0 since returning Kendall Gill to the starting lineup in place of Jim Jackson. Guard Anthony Carter (hernia) and centers Sean Marks (neck) and Ernest Brown (hand) are on the injured list.
