Utah Jazz reserve center Greg Ostertag was suspended for one game after bumping coach Jerry Sloan on the sidelines during a game last Tuesday in Memphis.
Jazz executive Keven O"Connor flew to Indianapolis on Monday to meet with Ostertag and Sloan to discuss the fate of the beleaguered center.
The Jazz are in Indiana to meet the Pacers tonight, their first game since Sloan and Ostertag had a run-in on the sidelines during a game in Memphis a week ago, resulting in the coach"s announcement that Ostertag would be suspended.
Because of the All-Star break, the players, coaches and staff went their separate ways immediately after that game in Memphis. The team reconvened Monday evening in Indianapolis, with players given the option of traveling from Salt Lake City on the team charter, or meeting the team there.
In the third quarter of last Tuesday"s game, Sloan pulled his embattled center after he committed his third foul in just four minutes of play.
Sloan said something to Ostertag as he left the court and the 7-foot-2 center responded, ""I"m ready. I"m ready. Put me back in."
Ostertag made a sharp turn back toward the scorer"s table, as though he was going to check back in. Sloan ordered him back to the bench so Ostertag made another U-turn, bumping Sloan with his arm and shoulder on his way past the coach.
