Marc Berman writes that if the Knicks hit the lottery jackpot and select 7-6 center Yao Ming with the first or second pick, expect the team to head to China for an exhibition game vs. the Shanghai Sharks.
That would be part of the compensation the Knicks or any NBA team would have to give Shanghai for allowing Ming to play next season. Knicks GM Scott Layden, while visiting China recently, was told by basketball officials Ming will definitely be allowed to play in the NBA next season but that there would be conditions.

Rumors are Shanghai would require just money, but Layden was also told about an exhibition game and sponsoring coaching clinics in its Chinese city. One of the Shanghai owners was quoted last week, saying, "Under the right circumstances, with the right club, at the right time, he'll play."

Camby Update
Before last night's game, Camby was holed up in the trainer's room in the visiting dressing room at Gund Arena, getting electrical-stimulation treatment - something that would not be done if the Knicks had given up all hope on his return. "I'm still hoping to," said Camby. Don Chaney mentioned that he's seen Camby walk with no limp for a few days now but has no idea if he'll make it back.
