The last time Michael Jordan faced the Utah Jazz on this court, he hit the championship-winning shot in the waning seconds over Bryon Russell to give the Chicago Bulls their sixth and final NBA title in 1998.

Russell got some redemption tonight as he nailed a baseline three-pointer over Jordan with just more than three minutes left to stop a Washington Wizards comeback bid and propel the Jazz to a 94-79 victory before a sellout crowd of 19,911 at Delta Center.

The real drama at the end of tonight's game came when Jazz forward Karl Malone, who had just been whistled for a technical foul along with Washington guard Richard Hamilton, exchanged heated words and then stepped toward Wizards Coach Doug Collins on the sideline with just more than two minutes remaining.

Hamilton (6 feet 6, 190 pounds) was called for a personal foul when he tried to hold his ground against Malone (6-9, 256) on a driving layup. The two collided and the chiseled Malone, who came into Hamilton with his leg slightly raised, started barking at the rail-thin Hamilton.

Hamilton didn't run or hide but decided to flex his verbal muscles only.

"I haven't played against [Malone] long enough to know if he does it intentionally or not, but it was a situation where it was like, 'Yo, watch yourself. You can't just come into the lane and do anything,' " Hamilton said.
