John Reid of the New Orleans Times-Picayune reports: Three weeks ago Hornets forward Jamal Mashburn could not stand without feeling dizzy.

But this week Mashburn started his summer workouts to get ready for the team's first season in New Orleans.

Hornets spokesman Harold Kaufman said Mashburn has fully recovered from positional vertigo, which forced him to miss 10 consecutive playoff games.

On April 20, Mashburn became sick after playing 10 minutes in Game 1 of the Hornets' opening-round series against the Orlando Magic. The Hornets eliminated the Magic without him, but they lost to the New Jersey Nets in five games in the Eastern Conference semifinals.

Last week Hornets coach Paul Silas said he had his fingers crossed that Mashburn will come back ready this fall. "That's all I want to hear, because without him we would really struggle," Silas said.

In other Hornet news: Hornets officials are discussing plans for a draft-day party for fans at New Orleans Arena on June 26. The Hornets have the 17th pick in the first round.

Forward/center Robert Traylor is will be a restricted free agent provided that the Hornets make him a qualifying offer, but he said this week he wants to remain with the Hornets.

"I like the team, and hopefully we can get things done," Traylor said. "But in this business you never know."

"I'd like to have Traylor back if things are reasonable," Silas said. "I think he'll be a positive force on this team if we bring him back, and he can get himself in better shape."
