Marc J. Spears of the Denver Post reports: While many NBA officials were unable to get things done Tuesday at the predraft camp, Denver Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe was on the move.

Vandeweghe talked with James Posey's agent, Mark Bartelstein.

Posey averaged career highs of 10.7 points, 5.9 rebounds and 1.6 steals last season. The three-year NBA veteran is signed through next season and is eligible for a contract extension. Bartelstein said he spoke with Vandeweghe about his client's future in Denver.

"James is in his third year, and he can do an extension," Bartelstein said. "We had a good conversation. There is no question (Vandeweghe) would like to keep James, and James wants to stay. It's a matter of is it the right deal for everybody."

Posey's name has been involved in many trade rumors. But Bartelstein didn't think his client was being dangled to other teams.

"I don't think (Posey's) being shopped," Bartelstein said. "There are a lot of teams that would want to get him. He's a terrific young player and has an upside. The Nuggets are aggressively trying to make changes. When that happens, other teams interested in trying to get better are looking for good talented players with experience and upside. That is what James is."
