The rumors are running rampant.
With Donyell Marshall's future in Utah in question, maybe leaving as a part of a sign-and-trade deal with Toronto, and Bryon Russell apparently headed out of town, perhaps for Dallas, the Jazz on Tuesday dined Los Angeles Lakers free-agent small forward Devean George, likely to little avail.
Largely a role-playing reserve since being selected 23rd overall in the first round of the 1999 NBA draft by the three-time league-champion Lakers, the 24-year-old George is a 6-foot-8, 225-pound slasher who is being courted by several other teams, including Minnesota, Washington, New Jersey, Chicago and his own Lakers.
"They had a real good meeting," agent Mark Bartelstein said of George's visit to Utah, which included lunch at a downtown Salt Lake restaurant with Jazz brass and coaches.
"He was really impressed with everything, to be honest," Bartelstein added. "Now, we just have to see where things are headed."
According to at least one Internet rumor, however, it may not be Utah.
