Carlos Arroyo's best performance in Utah came nearly two years ago in Provo, when he scored 14 points in the Marriott Center against Brigham Young.

He will get plenty of chances to better that now.

Arroyo will take his game to the Delta Center this season as a member of the Jazz. The Florida International graduate agreed Tuesday to a free-agent contract with the team, becoming for the moment the only backup point guard to John Stockton.

The 6-foot-2 Arroyo will take a physical Thursday, the team said, then sign a contract for the NBA second-year minimum, approximately $475,000. Arroyo, 23, will become the 11th player under contract for next season, with the Jazz almost certain to add another point guard before training camp opens Oct. 1.
