On Patrick Ewing Night, four weeks ago, the mammoth Madison Square Garden crowd gave Starks an ovation second only to Ewing's. "That's one of the reasons I chose to coach here," Starks says. "Even though I played at Golden State, even though I played at Utah, I've always felt like a New Yorker. My true heart was right here."
