Malone has participated in 13 All-Star Games during his career and was voted as a starter eight times. He is also a two-time Olympic Gold medal-winner as a member of the 1992 "Dream Team" in Barcelona and the 1996 U.S. team in Atlanta. Malone has only missed ten games in his NBA career, six due to injury and four due to league suspension.

Karl and his wife Kay are the parents of four children, Kadee, Kylee, Karlee and Karl Jr. and make their home in Salt Lake City.
