As the Utah Jazz neared the end of their 2002-03 season, this question was asked of John Stockton during a press conference: Was Jerry Sloan's coaching style ill-suited to today's young players?

The answer of course is yes, although Stockton disagreed (what does he know, he's 41). Anyone can see that Sloan is as out of style as Stockton's haircut.

Sloan expects players to play hard every minute they're on the court. Silly man. That's the way he played ? every game was like a knife fight for Sloan ? so he expects today's players to play with the same intensity. Clearly, he is out of touch with today's players, who play hard when it suits them (as football player Randy Moss once articulated so clearly).
