The next member of the Utah Jazz might be just a flight of stairs away in the Delta Center. Or he might be 6,000 miles away.

Kevin O'Connor will make both trips in the next couple of weeks.

The Jazz's vice president of basketball operations begins winnowing candidates for the team's 19th pick in the June 26 NBA draft this week, beginning in Europe. O'Connor heads to France today to watch NBA prospects, and he will spend the weekend in Yugoslavia before returning to Utah next week.

A record 31 international players have made themselves eligible for the NBA (though some may withdraw before the draft), and several leagues are holding playoffs this month. That gives O'Connor a chance to watch and meet some of the international players already evaluated by the Jazz's European scout, Alberto Del Cin.
