One of the most popular chapters in University of Hawai'i basketball history came to an official close yesterday when Carl English signed a contract with a Toronto-based agent.

English, who declared for early entry into the NBA Draft in April and told The Advertiser last week he was "100 percent sure" he would turn pro, relinquished his NCAA eligibility by signing with an agent.

English graduated last month but had one year left of eligibility.

"It was a great run and I have so many good memories," English said. "But I feel like I'm ready to move on to the next level."
