There were strong memories of 1999 at the SBC Center on Sunday night.

Tim Duncan and David Robinson were the heroes during the franchise's first championship and they stood shoulder to shoulder again to lead the Spurs to title No. 2.

It was a rare moment for a San Antonio home crowd to enjoy the closing of a series and the first time it observed the winning of a title.

The wild joy the Spurs delivered to the 18,797 fans with their 88-77 victory certainly helped make up for the snub the coach and players delivered to the hundreds of fans who gathered to greet the team's return from New York.

Duncan was a hurricane force with the 27th triple-double in the Finals ? 21 points, 20 rebounds and 10 assists. The series MVP kept his team in the game during the first half with the beginning of his sparkling performance: five blocks, 14 points, six assists and eight rebounds.

Robinson, a jumping jack of joy on the sidelines as the game clock wound down, added 13 points and 17 rebounds.

The pair shut down the middle with menacing defense that included 10 blocks.

Robinson now happily leaves the league and Duncan admitted it would be "weird" taking the floor without the 7-foot-1 center next year.
