The Jazz interviewed one of the most talented guards in the country Friday.
Just in case.
Louisville's Reece Gaines stopped at the Zion's Bank Basketball Center for a sit-down with Jazz vice president of basketball operations Kevin O'Connor, director of player personnel Walt Perrin and head coach Jerry Sloan.
Gaines did not work out -- "We know what he can do on the court," O'Connor said -- but the Jazz wanted to meet him on the off chance he is still available when Utah uses the 19th pick in Thursday night's NBA draft.
It isn't likely, since Gaines is considered one of the top four point guards in the draft and at least six teams picking ahead of Utah -- Miami, the L.A. Clippers, Milwaukee, Golden State, Orlando and Boston -- are reportedly interested in using an early selection on a young quarterback
