The Nets, of course, will monitor Jason Kidd's Texas Tour next week very closely. And some will be watching with more interest than others. Like Kenyon Martin.

"Kenyon's aware of all the implications. We're watching what's going on," said Martin's agent, Brian Dyke, who declined to specifically discuss what impact the loss of Kidd through free agency would have on his client.

"Kenyon has always looked at it as things you can't control, you let go. Jason's got to do what's best for him."

Same for Martin, of course. Martin's contract can be extended Aug. 1 to prevent him from becoming a restricted free agent after next season. Figure Martin and his camp will seek a long-term deal, something comparable to Dirk Nowitzki's seven-year deal for roughly $89 million.

Martin previously said he wouldn't necessarily seek the maximum, but noted with conviction at the end of the Finals, "I'm not selling myself short."
