Denver GM Kiki Vandeweghe met with Jason Kidd's agent Jeff Schwartz yesterday in Los Angeles, according to a source. Vandeweghe was in L.A. to meet with several other agents.
No formal visit was set, however, and Kidd is still scheduled to meet with Spurs officials on Sunday and Monday in San Antonio. Kidd could fly to Dallas afterward, but nothing has been scheduled, according to Mavs owner Mark Cuban. The Nets, Spurs, Mavericks and Nuggets are all pursuing Kidd, who hopes to have a decision made by the middle or end of the month.
While the Nuggets have plenty of money to offer, they do not have the championship-caliber roster Kidd seeks. Dallas has the talent but not the cap space, and would need a sign-and-trade to land Kidd, which Nets president Rod Thorn doesn't plan on doing unless he has no choice.
