Despite the best recruiting efforts of Celtics director of basketball operations Danny Ainge, it appears free agent power forward Karl Malone will remain in the West. On Friday, KSL-TV in Salt Lake City reported that Ainge had visited Malone in his Salt Lake City home. The meeting took place as soon as teams could speak with free agents at 10 p.m. MDT Monday, which made it July 1 on the East coast. Ainge went so far as to meet with Malone's agent, Dwight Manley, Wednesday in Los Angeles.
