Kwame Brown, Juan Dixon and Etan Thomas, free agent veteran Bobby Simmons and draft picks Jarvis Hayes and Steve Blake will play for the Washington Wizards in the Boston summer league, which begins Monday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Chris Monroe (George Washington) and Joe Shipp (California) are among 12 free agents trying to make the summer-league roster after a four-day minicamp that begins today at MCI Center. Washington is scheduled to play six games in the Boston summer league, which will be played at the University of Massachusetts-Boston and runs until July 20.

"We're excited to get started," said Wizards President of Basketball Operations Ernie Grunfeld. "It's obviously everyone's first look at our draft picks, but it's really the new staff's first in-depth look at many of our young players. We think we'll get a lot of work done over the next 10 days."

New coach Eddie Jordan may do most of the coaching during summer league, although he might turn over those duties to his assistants, which is a common practice in these pre-exhibition season games. Grunfeld will be on hand as well.

Hayes, a small forward selected with the 10th overall pick, and Blake, the Maryland standout guard Washington landed in the second round, are expected to get plenty of action because both could play vital roles once the season begins.
