The Kings made a move to replenish their depth Friday by signing veteran free-agent guard Anthony Peeler.

Peeler, who will turn 33 in November, was a member of the Minnesota Timberwolves since February 1998, but was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks during the offseason as part of a deal for point guard Sam Cassell. Peeler was waived by the Bucks, who are in a youth movement. He then became a free agent.

Kings president of basketball operations Geoff Petrie said Friday he believes Peeler will fit well into the team's system.

"He gives us another long-range shooting presence and another player who can handle the ball well," Petrie said of Peeler, a career 37.8 percent three-point shooter. "He has a good assist-to-turnover ratio for a shooting guard, and I think he'll fit very easily into our up-tempo style of play.

"He'll be a good compliment to Mike (Bibby), Doug (Christie) and Bobby (Jackson)."

Peeler signed a one-year deal with a second season at his option.

"When Sacramento contacted me, it was a no-brainer," said Peeler at an Arco Arena news conference. "I watched the Kings all my life growing up in Kansas City (and) Missouri. When they finally called and wanted me to be a part of their family, I couldn't believe it. I'm in awe still."
