Nuggets point guard Andre Miller, signed last month as a free agent, soon will walk to his mailbox and find the check for his $10 million signing bonus. But he still has the attitude of a guy with a non-guaranteed contract.

Miller participated in voluntary workouts this past week. On Friday, he showed up at 6 a.m. to lift weights before leaving Denver.

"I think he's got a lot to prove," Vandeweghe said of Miller, whose statistics slipped last season with the Clippers after he led the NBA in assists with Cleveland in 2001-02. "I think he wants to show everybody that he's still the same player."

The workouts this week looked like a midseason practice, as most of the Nuggets were on hand.

"It's terrific that all these guys have come in," Nuggets coach Jeff Bzdelik said. "It really shows their commitment."
