PHOENIX (AP) The Phoenix Suns activated 2003 NBA Rookie of the Year Amare Stoudemire and Zarko Cabarkapa, two of their best young players, before Friday night's game against the Sacramento Kings.
To clear roster space, the Suns placed forward Maciej Lampe on the injured list with back spasms. Phoenix acquired Lampe from New York on Monday in a trade in which the Knicks got Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway.
Stoudemire was averaging 15.1 points, 8.9 rebounds and 1.72 blocks when he sprained his left ankle at Boston on Dec. 5. He missed 18 games, and the Suns went 4-14 without him.
Cabarkapa, the No. 17 selection in the 2003 draft, missed 22 games after breaking his right wrist on a flagrant foul by Dallas' Danny Fortson late in a game on Nov. 26. The Suns were 5-17 with him on the injured list.
