Kurt Thomas has surgery for his dislocated right pinkie yesterday.

The Knicks announced Thomas was operated on by Dr. Charles Melone to "repair the extensor tendon" in his pinkie. Melone performed Patrick Ewing's infamous wrist surgery seven years ago.

The Knicks said Thomas will be in a cast for "four to six weeks" before beginning therapy, which could be a reason he smartly accepted the Knicks' contract extension instead of becoming a free agent. He'll be off a basketball court for three months but the Knicks said he'll be ready for October's training camp.
