Isiah Thomas has the $1.6 million exception that many are speculating could be used on ex-Knick Michael Doleac. But players can get only a two-year deal with that exception, and Doleac wants more.

"We're looking at a longer-term deal," said agent Glenn Schwartzman, who was not contacted by Thomas as of midday Thursday. "Michael likes it in New York basketball-wise, but if that were the offer and all they could offer him, I don't think it would enable it to happen."
