Isiah Thomas knows it?s a long shot but it won?t stop him from making the trip anyway.

He will travel to California for the beginning of summer league and stop off to visit Kobe Bryant along the way.

What are his team?s chances of landing Bryant? "Less than zero," Thomas said, laughing. "How's that?"

Thomas will also soon speak to the agent for Rasheed Wallace. "Just to kind of keep my finger on the pulse in terms of where they are in negotiations,'' he said.  "That's something we'll definitely stay interested in. But Detroit's totally in the driver's seat on that."

Even with restricted free-agent Jamal Crawford, Thomas admits that the odds are against the Knicks acquiring him.

"I would say that's up to Chicago to decide because he is their player," he said. "And if they want to do sign-and-trades and all of that, then yeah, we can come to the discussion. Kobe right now is free-free. Rasheed is free-free. You're taking a different approach, but somebody else is in the driver's seat on that, also."
