The Utah Jazz are using their Gonzaga connections, well just one connection, Mr. Gonzaga John Stockton is working hard to get a good look at Gonzaga power forward Ronny Turiaf.
"John is always there for us when we need him," Turiaf said of him and his teammates at the small Jesuit school in Spokane, Wash., the hometown Stockton retired to following his nearly two-decade-long career with the Jazz.
"He's been talking to me pretty much all year long," said Turiaf, the West Coast Conference's Player of the Year and an Associated Press honorable-mention All-American his senior season. "He's been giving me advice as far as posting up, what to do, what is going to be expected of me in the NBA. He told me about stuff that Karl Malone did."
Turiaf averaged 16 points and 9.5 boards a game for the powerhouse Zags in his final season and is projected to go late in the first round or early in the second. The Jazz might be able to pick him up with their second first round pick, the number 27 slot.
