With the ownership group of the New Jersey Nets poised to move the team to a new arena in Brooklyn, New York, Madison Square Garden, the parent company of the New York Knicks, is looking to expand its business reach into the area. MSG has announced that it has joined the ownership group of Aviator Sports and Recreation, LLC, a sports facility based in the Borough of Brooklyn.
Aviator is a 170,000 square foot mega-sports complex that houses two NHL regulation-size indoor ice rinks, an indoor field house and other amenities. The facility is scheduled to open this fall.
"Madison Square Garden may reside in Manhattan - but we have always appreciated the tremendous percentage of our fanbase lives in Brooklyn and Queens," said Steve Mills, president and COO of MSG Sports.
