The New Jersey Nets have acquired forward Stromile Swift from the Memphis Grizzlies in exchange for center Jason Collins and cash considerations, Nets' President Rod Thorn announced today.

"Let me first thank Jason Collins for his contribution to the Nets over the past seven years.  He was a vital member of the core group of players that went to the playoffs six consecutive years, including two NBA Finals, and we wish him the best of luck for the remainder of his career," said Thorn.  "With that said, we are pleased to add Stromile to our roster.  He is a player who will add athleticism and experience to our frontcourt rotation."

Swift, a 6?10? forward, is in his eighth NBA season, posting averages of 6.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.  The Vancouver Grizzlies originally selected Swift as the second overall pick of the 2000 NBA Draft out of Louisiana State University.
