Point guard Jameer Nelson says that he is ready for a bigger role with the Magic this season.

Orlando signed him to a contract extension this summer, which has placed a lot of pressure on Nelson to elevate his game this year.

"Obviously," Coach Stan Van Gundy said, "the organization showed a great confidence in him with the contract extension."

The Magic inked him to a five-year, $38 million extension.

"I'm four years deep. I'm a veteran. I've pretty much seen everything," Nelson said. "I've been in every situation except a championship situation."

"Otis [Smith] tells me what his expectations are of me; he probably expects more of me than I do from myself, and that's saying a lot. He's put a lot on me. But it's like I've always said: I'll face all challenges. And every challenge I've faced throughout my career, I've answered."
