The Heat (2-2) used strong advantages in the first, second, and fourth quarters to beat the 76ers (2-3) rather easily. Miami held Philadelphia to just 37% shooting from the field and forced twenty-six turnovers. Elton Brand had 12 points and 12 rebounds, and rookie Marreese Speights contributed 6 points and 10 boards in defeat.

The Knicks (2-2) held off a late charge by the Bobcats (1-3) on Wednesday night to record their second win of the season. Zach Randolph posted 25 points and 13 rebounds, and Nate Robinson added 24 points off the bench. Charlotte outrebounded New York by eight, but the Knicks were 12-for-26 from downtown. The Hawks (3-0) handed the Hornets (3-1) their first loss of the season on Wednesday night thanks to a 29-17 edge in the fourth quarter. Joe Johnson starred with 24 points and 7 rebounds, and Josh Smith posted 11 points and 11 boards in the victory. Atlanta outrebounded New Orleans by ten and made twelve three-pointers.
