The Wizards and Suns discussed a trade centered around Amare Stoudemire before this past June's NBA Draft, multiple league sources told the Washington Post.

The proposed deal reportedly would have sent the fifth pick, Antawn Jamison and other players to Phoenix for Stoudemire and the fourteenth pick.

The negotiations broke down when the Suns asked that Caron Butler be included in the package.

The Wizards ended up using the fifth pick to get Mike Miller and Randy Foye from Minnesota.

"That's the way it is in this game. You never know what the future holds," said Stoudemire. "It's all good. I honestly enjoy it. I know a lot of teams out there are watching me and wanting to acquire me. But my focus is the Phoenix Suns. We've got a good ball club here; I love my teammates and we get along well, and we're winning right now."
