Celtics captain Paul Pierce was called for an offensive foul for pushing off as he jumped to shoot with 28 seconds left in Boston's 90-89 loss to the Lakers on Sunday afternoon.

The Celtics had a one-point lead at the time and the foul set up Kobe Bryant's game-winning jumper on the other end of the court.

Ray Allen missed a potential game-winner on the game's final possession.

"At that point, I think it's got to be unbelievable, but I didn't see it so I really can't give an opinion on it," Boston coach Doc Rivers said of the offensive foul called on Pierce.

"You know, I do know Kobe pushes off a lot."

Pierce didn't agree with the call, but didn't complain either.

"I thought I made a good move. I got to my sweet spot," he said. "I guess the ref saw it differently and he made the call. That's part of the game. That's why you have referees."
