Carmelo Anthony scored 30 points on 10-for-15 shooting in 23 minutes before his night was cut short when he landed awkwardly on his left leg after a hard foul by Dwight Howard as he drove to the basket in the third quarter.

Mike Woodson addressed Anthony’s injury status after the game.

“Right now, it’s just day-to-day,” said Woodson. “It’s a slight sprain and so we’ve just got to take it a day at a time and see what happens.”

Anthony attempted to run it off, but limped noticeably off the court and headed straight for the locker room with the trainer.

Woodson expressed concern for Anthony, but reminded the media that his team is a resilient group.

“I mean he’s a big piece to the puzzle,” said Woodson. “I thought we’ve proven early on when we played Miami, when Melo didn’t play, I felt pretty good about our chances in Miami and us going out and playing hard and seeing if we could give ourselves a chance to win and we did. So I think these guys are comfortable. Surely from a coach’s standpoint, for our franchise, and for our fans, we need every piece to the puzzle.”

Anthony expressed doubt about his availability for Saturday’s home game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

"Right now, it is too soon,” said Anthony. “I'm going to take it day-by-day."
