New Orleans Hornets forward Jason Smith continues to play with a torn labrum in his right shoulder and could need surgery this offseason.

Smith acknowledges the injury -- which he suffered on Dec. 12 -- fluctuates in terms of pain, with some days being better than others. He also aggravates the shoulder often in games.

"I’m hanging in there, it’s always sore,’’ Smith said. "You can’t do anything about it until you get surgery. You just got to manage it as best as you can; get with the training staff and get your treatment day in and day out.  You have to use your feet more and try not to do so much arm activity and banging."
