The New York Knicks have fired Steve Mills as team president.

Scott Perry will take over basketball operations for the Knicks in the interim.

James Dolan is targeting Masai Ujiri to ultimately run the Knicks. Ujiri is under contract through the 20-21 season with the Toronto Raptors.

Mills initially joined the Knicks in 2003 before leaving in 2009. Mills returned to the Knicks in 2013 and began to take an active role on the basketball side of the team working alongside Phil Jackson beginning in 2014. Mills assumed more power following Jackson's dismissal in 2017.

Mills is expected to be nominated to the Board of Madison Square Garden's new standalone sports company.
