The Detroit Pistons have signed guard R.J. Hampton to a rest-of-season contract. Hampton was recently waived by the Orlando Magic.

Hampton has averaged 5.7 points in 13.9 minutes over 26 games this season. With Orlando having several other young, and finally healthy, guards, there was no longer a place for Hampton in the Magic's rotation.

Detroit is bringing Hampton in to take a look, as they play out the string in a rebuilding situation. This is the sort of bottom-of-the-roster churning that often unearths a solid rotation player moving forward.
