The Boston Celtics picked up the third-year option on Robert Williams' contract worth just over $2 million, league sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The 22-year-old Williams is averaging 5.0 points and 5.7 rebounds per game this season. 

Enes Kanter will sit out the Boston Celtics game against the Milwaukee Bucks due to a knee injury.

Kanter suffered a left knee contusion on opening night, and has missed the last two games.

Romeo Langford could make his regular season debut after spraining his knee in preseason.

Daniel Theis is also questionable to return against the Bucks.

During his exit interview following the 18-19 season, Kyrie Irving informed Danny Ainge he intended to leave the Boston Celtics.

Irving had already decided he would sign with the Brooklyn Nets and not the New York Knicks.

Irving grew up a fan of the Nets and was encouraged by what they were building.

Boston eventually signed Kemba Walker as the replacement for Irving.

Kyrie Irving became friends with Kevin Durant and DeAndre Jordan during the 2016 Olympics. Irving had just won a title with the Cleveland Cavaliers while Durant was coming off his decision to join the Golden State Warriors.

The three had endless conversations about basketball, including how LeBron James had orchestrated his own "friend group" with the Miami Heat with Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh.

On one of the final nights they had together during their Olympic run, Irving, Durant and Jordan toasted.

"Hey, this would be cool to do for real" Jordan recalls Irving saying.

"I asked him, 'What you mean by that?'" Jordan says, "and Ky said, 'Let's all get on the same team and play together.'"

Durant went on to win titles in 2017 and 2018. Irving requested a trade in 2017 from the Cavaliers and ended up on the Boston Celtics. Jordan left the Los Angeles Clippers for the Dallas Mavericks and eventually the New York Knicks in 18-19.

"The brotherhood was real," Irving says, "but circumstances kept us apart."

"There were times when you had to wonder, 'Is this ever going to really happen?"' Jordan says.

All three players became free agents in 2019.

"We all agreed," Jordan says, "'We gotta do this.'"

Kemba Walker considered signing with the New York Knicks as a free agent, but he ultimately decided to join the Boston Celtics.

“It was [a consideration]. It was," said Walker. They were definitely one of the teams I was looking at in free agency. But I picked Boston. I just felt it was a better fit for me.”

Walker signed a four-year, $141 million deal with the Celtics.

Walker was asked if the Celtics expressed interest.

“I guess they did. Obviously, the players and teams can’t communicate.”

The Boston Celtics signed Jaylen Brown to a four-year, $115 million extension shortly before the deadline.

The Celtics famously hadn't signed a player to a rookie scale extension since 2009 with Rajon Rondo.

"From what I was hearing, Boston improved its offer significantly at the end of the negotiations," said Brian Windhorst on the Zach Lowe podcast. "One of the reasons why I think they did that was because they realized they didn't want to get into.. they saw where things were going. If Buddy Hield gets this, than our guys (get this)."

Jaylen Brown has agreed to a four-year, $115 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics.

The Celtics haven't agreed to a rookie scale extension since Rajon Rondo in 2009.

Danny Ainge and Brown's agent, Jason Glushon, negotiated much of the deal over the weekend in Boston.

Brown was the third overall pick in the 2016 NBA Draft out of California.

The Boston Celtics have waived Kaiser Gates, Yante Maten and Max Strus.

The moves bring their roster down to 17 players, including two players on two-way contracts. 

The Boston Celtics have offered Jaylen Brown a four-year, $80 million contract extension.

Brown recently hired Jason Glushon as his agent after spending the first few years of his NBA career without one.

The Celtics have not signed a player to a rookie scale extension since Rajon Rondo in 2009.

Brown is pursuing a bigger offer as he believes he has the capacity to become a star.

Brad Stevens came away impressed after Carsen Edwards hit eight 3's in the third quarter of the Boston Celtics preseason win over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Edwards finished 8-11 from 3 in the quarter, scoring 26 points.

"I've never seen anything like that. He was pretty special ... You look at a guy that size and you try to figure out how he does it. And he just keeps doing it," said Stevens.

Klay Thompson has the NBA record for most 3's in a quarter with nine. Three other players have hit eight 3's in a quarter in the regular season.
