The Boston Celtics will not stand in the way of Ime Udoka becoming a coaching candidate with another team, sources tell ESPN.

Rival teams are trying to gather a preliminary understanding of the full explanation for Udoka's season long suspension in preparing for evaluating him for future coaching employment. 

Udoka had an improper workplace relationship with a woman, who he reportedly used crude language with prior to them becoming intimate. 

The Celtics promoted Joe Mazzulla to interim coach for the upcoming season.

According to the findings of an independent law firm, Ime Udoka used crude language in his dialogue with a female subordinate prior to the start of an improper workplace relationship, which was an element that factored into his one-year suspension. 

The verbiage was especially concerning coming from a workplace superior, according to the findings. 

This reportedly contributes to a difficult pathway back to his reinstatement as head coach of the Boston Celtics in 2023.

The power dynamic associated with a superior's improper relationship with a staff member was the primary finding and policy violation cited in the law firm's report, which was commissioned by the Celtics and completed early last week.

Blake Griffin has agreed a one-year, fully guaranteed deal with the Boston Celtics.

Griffin spent the past season and a half with the Brooklyn Nets.

Griffin will give Boston depth in the frontcourt following the injuries to Robert Williams III and Danilo Gallinari.

The Celtics now have 11 fully guaranteed contracts on their roster, though that number does not include Al Horford's mostly guaranteed deal.

Griffin averaged 6.4 points and 4.1 rebounds across 56 games (24 starts) this past season for the Nets.

Jay Larranaga has decided to remain on the coaching staff of Tyronn Lue with the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Boston Celtics were granted permission to speak with Larranaga this week following the yearlong suspension of Ime Udoka. Larranaga decided to remain with the Clippers.

Larranaga was previously an assistant coach with the Celtics.

The Boston Celtics are seeking permission to talk to Los Angeles Clippers assistant Jay Larranaga about joining Joe Mazzulla's staff this season, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Larranaga was with the Celtics organization for nine seasons before joining the Clippers in 2021.

During a press conference on Friday, the Boston Celtics revealed they first learned of an inappropriate consensual relationship between Ime Udoka and a team employee during the summer.

Wyc Grousbeck said the Celtics immediately hired a law firm to conduct what he called a thorough and impartial investigation that “took some twists and turns.”

“It took some time to develop all the facts. It finally concluded. For now, everything we know was wrapped up two days ago,” said Grousbeck.

Grousbeck said the organization was not responsible for the story being leaked Wednesday night.

“Obviously we would have nothing to do with that and nothing to gain from that,” said Grousbeck. “We don’t know where [leaks] come from. They’re part of the NBA as we all know in this room, but it’s really unfortunate.”

Udoka has been suspended for the entire 22-23 season and his future with the franchise is in doubt. 

Robert Williams underwent a successful arthroscopic procedure to remove loose bodies and address swelling in his left knee.

The surgery was performed by Celtics Team Physician Dr. Tony Schena at New England Baptist Hospital.

Williams is expected to return to basketball activities in 8-12 weeks. 

The original reporting indicated Williams was expected to miss 4-6 week.

Ime Udoka has been suspended for the entire 22-23 season by the Boston Celtics, which has put his future with the franchise and in the league into uncertain territory. 

"Frayed, to say the least," said Adrian Wojnarowski of the current state of the relationship between the Celtics and Udoka. "There is nothing but uncertainty about really whether Ime Udoka will ever coach the Boston Celtics again. Not only is he suspended for the season, but Boston has not committed that he would be back next season.

"This is still a coach who is going to garner interest around the league. The final chapter of his coaching career I don't think has been written. I think there the possibility that there are going to be other teams interested in him, maybe as soon as this season.

"Ime Udoka and Brad Stevens... this was a very close relationship. The suspension has certainly frayed the trust, the relationship there. We'll see if they can rebuild it."

Wojnarowski adds that the Celtics could have fired Udoka, but elected not to as there's still a possibility of him returning next season. 

Ime Udoka reportedly made "unwanted comments" towards a female member of the Boston Celtics staff, sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Udoka was suspended for the entire 2022-23 season for violating team policies. 

People within the Celtics organization became aware of the relationship between Udoka and the staff member in July and were lead to believe that it was consensual, according to reports.

The team launched an internal investigation after the woman recently accused Udoka of making "unwanted comments."

The team made their decision on Udoka's future following a closed-door meeting involving the owners and president Brad Stevens that lasted several hours.
