Nuggets Exercise Options On Lyles, Mudiay, Beasley, Hernangomez, Murray

The Denver Nuggets have exercised the fourth-year options for both Trey Lyles and Emmanuel Mudiay and exercised the third-year options for Malik Beasley, Juancho Hernangomez and Jamal Murray.

Lyles, 6-10, 243, was drafted out of the University of Kentucky with the 12th pick of the 2015 NBA Draft by the Utah Jazz. He was acquired by Denver, along with Tyler Lydon, in a draft-night trade on June 22, 2017. He appeared in 151 games (37 starts) in his first two seasons with Utah, averaging 6.1 points and 3.5 rebounds in 16.8 minutes per game.

Mudiay, 6-5, 200, was selected by Denver with the seventh overall pick of the 2015 NBA Draft. He has played in 123 games (107 starts) over his first two seasons, posting averages of 12.0 points, 3.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists in 28.2 minutes per game.

Beasley, 6-5, 196, was drafted out of Florida State University with the 19th pick of the 2016 NBA Draft by Denver. He appeared in 22 games (one start) for the Nuggets as a rookie, averaging 3.8 points in 7.5 minutes. He also appeared in 16 games (12 starts) for Sioux Falls of the NBA G-League, averaging 18.9 points, 7.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.10 steals in 31.9 minutes.

Hernangomez, 6-9, 230, was selected by Denver with the 15th overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft. The Madrid, Spain native played in 62 games (nine starts) as a rookie last season, posting averages of 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. 

Murray, 6-4, 207, was selected by Denver with the seventh overall pick of the 2016 NBA Draft out of the University of Kentucky. He appeared in all 82 games (10 starts) as a rookie last season, averaging 9.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 21.5 minutes per game. The Kitchener, Canada native earned All-Rookie Second Team honors, was named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for Oct./Nov. and won the MVP award at the BBVA Compass Rising Stars Challenge during All-Star Weekend.

Mason Plumlee, Nuggets Agree Upon Three-Year, $41M Deal

Mason Plumlee and the Denver Nuggets have agreed upon a three-year, $41 million contract.

Denver was able to avoid Plumlee signing a $4.6 million qualifying offer for the 2017-18 season that would have allowed him to become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

The Nuggets acquired Plumlee in February for Jusuf Nurkic and a first round pick.

Denver's frontcourt rotation consists of Nikola Jokic, Paul Millsap and Kenneth Faried along with Plumlee.

Nuggets Promote Tommy Balcetis To Director Of Basketball Strategy & Analytics

The Denver Nuggets have promoted Tommy Balcetis to Director of Basketball Strategy & Analytics.

Balcetis enters his fifth season with the Nuggets front office and his first season as Director of Basketball Strategy & Analytics. He was named the Director of Basketball Analytics prior to the 2016-17 season after previously serving as Manager of Basketball Analytics from 2013 to 2016. Balcetis works closely with President of Basketball Operations Tim Connelly and General Manager Arturas Karnisovas along with the Nuggets coaching staff on all analytical assignments, scouting and the salary cap.

Balcetis graduated from Harvard University in 2010 with a degree in Economics and Psychology. The Lithuanian native’s background includes working for the NBA League offices in London, England in the international media department from 2012 to 2013 and also serving as a business consultant at Fidelity Investments from 2010 to 2012.

Nuggets Hire David Adelman As Assistant Coach

The Denver Nuggets have hired David Adelman to join Head Coach Michael Malone’s staff as an assistant coach.

Adelman comes to Denver after serving as assistant coach for the Orlando Magic during the 2016-17 season. He spent the previous five seasons (2011-16) with Minnesota, including the final three as an assistant coach. His NBA career began in 2011 as a player development coach. He also served as head coach for the Timberwolves summer league team for three seasons. Prior to joining the Timberwolves, Adelman spent five seasons as head basketball coach at Lincoln High School in Portland, Oregon.

Adelman went 83-53 (.610) during his five seasons at Lincoln, leading the Cardinals to three Portland Interscholastic district championships (2006-07, 2009-10, 2010-11). He also guided Lincoln to the Oregon Class 6A state championship final in 2009. Adelman was named PIL Coach of the Year three times.

Josh Childress Signs Camp Deal With Nuggets

Josh Childress has agreed upon a one-year, non-guaranteed deal with the Denver Nuggets.

Childress becomes the first player to sign with an NBA team after playing in the BIG3.

Childress last played in the NBA in 2013 with the New Orleans Pelicans. Childress spent last season with San-en NeoPhoenix in Japan.

Childress will enter training camp as the 18th player on the roster and will compete against a crowded small forward rotation of Will Barton, Wilson Chandler, and Tyler Lydon.
