The Sacramento Kings have hired Otis Hughley as an assistant coach.

"Otis has a wealth of experience working with young players and is ready to jump to the NBA," said Westphal. "We're very excited to add him to our staff to replace Bryan Gates."

"It's an exciting time," Hughley said. "I'm looking forward to being with an organization that?s proven and that's exhibited class. I?m really looking forward to working with Coach Westphal and his staff."

Hughley had coached at LeFlore High School in Mobile, Ala. for seven years (2004-2010), guiding the Rattlers to six straight regional appearances and a 6A state title in 2007. While at LeFlore, he coached current Kings center Demarcus Cousins.

Tyreke Evans, the NBA's reigning Rookie of the Year, sprained his ankle and missed Team USA's final three practices and Saturday's game in Las Vegas.

Evans said Friday that because of the injury he didn't expect to survive the team's impending cut and USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo appears to agree.

Colangelo said that Evans being cut is "pretty obvious."

"It was a bad break for him," Colangelo said of Evans. "He's a terrific kid. He's certainly part of our group and our team. We'll be looking at him down the road (in future summers) in all probability."

The Kings have signed free-agent point guard Pooh Jeter.

Jeter, who was on Sacramento's 2007 Summer League roster, played for Cleveland in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The Kings are expected to sign Antoine Wright to a one-year deal on Friday, according to Tim Cowlishaw of the Dallas Morning News.

Wright averaged 6.5 points and 2.8 rebounds in 67 games with the Raptors during the 2009-10 season.

The Kings and Bucks have completed a sign-and-trade for Jon Brockman, sources have confirmed.

Brockman was drafted by the Kings out of the University of Washington.

According to the Daily Mail, Hassan Whiteside has signed a four-year contract worth $3.8 million. The first two years of the deal are guaranteed for $1.76 million. If the Kings guarantee the final two years of his contract, he?d make $986,000 in his third season and $1.054 million in his fourth year.

The deal is similar to the one signed by DeJuan Blair with the Spurs last summer.

John Wall took home top honors as Most Outstanding Player in Las Vegas after leading all players in scoring (23.5 ppg) and assists (7.8 apg).
