Baron Davis Doesn't Want To Be Dealt

Dec 27, 2010 9:06 AM

Baron Davis doesn't want to be traded, despite rumors that the Clippers would love to unload his contract in a deal.

"It's tough because it's the nature of the business," Davis told FanHouse.

"But it's tough because I don't want to leave. I'm here. I came here for a reason. If I were to be traded, I just think that I just never really got a chance to do what I was signed here to do."

Davis signed a five-year, $65 million contract as a free agent in the summer of 2008 with his hometown team.

"I just look at it like you brought me here and you got to give me an opportunity," he said.

"I just want to (have an) opportunity to establish something with this core unit and this group and then we'll keep going."

Davis sees a very bright future for the Clippers.

"I can see us, the second half of the season, towards the end of the season, being one of the talked-about teams going into next year," he said.

Dec 22, 2010 4:53 PM

Blake Griffin is interested in participating in this February's Slam Dunk Contest.

"That would be cool," Griffin told NBA.com's Steve Aschburner. "If it's something that the league wants me to do, I'll probably try to do it."

Griffin added that he hasn't worked on any contest-worthy dunks.

"Not really. I really don't work on them a lot. If it turns out I'm going to do it, I'll try to think of something creative."

Sterling Heckles Davis, Other Clippers

Dec 13, 2010 4:34 PM

Donald Sterling has verbally taunted Baron Davis during several Clippers' home games this season, according to sources.

Sterling has reportedly said the following remarks.

- “Why are you in the game?”

– “Why did you take that shot?”

– “You’re out of shape!”

Sterling has also taunted other Clippers players since the middle of last season, but Davis has received the most abuse.

“There’s nothing I can say,” Davis said of Sterling’s taunts. “I have no comment on that. You just get to this point where it’s a fight every day. It’s a fight. You’re fighting unnecessary battles. I’m fighting unnecessary battles.

“It’s frustrating because I know and my teammates know I’m capable of getting it done, even dudes on the other team. It’s frustrating.”

Sterling “started getting a lot more vocal during the second half of last season,” one team source said. “He never had done that before at games. Baron’s his pet project. He absolutely hates Baron. He wants to get his money back.”

One member of the organization who wished to remain anonymous expressed disappointment in Sterling’s lack of support for Davis and the players.

“The owner of the team has to be the main supporter of the team and the staff,” the source said. “And when the owner of the team isn’t supporting the players, it doesn’t give you confidence to play the way you want to. This guy is supposed to be on your side, not against you. You want someone who can support what you’re doing and be on your side.”

Miller On Suspension: NBA Has Gone Soft

Dec 9, 2010 4:21 AM

Andre Miller was surprised he received a suspension by the NBA for his hard foul on Blake Griffin.

"I was surprised," Miller told The Columbian in Portland. "I actually wasn't even notified. I found out toward the evening when I was sleeping that there would be a suspension. It just shows you how soft the league has gotten, protecting young players. It's not like it was when I came in this league."

Miller had held the NBA's longest active consecutive game streak before his suspension.

Andre Miller Suspended One Game

Dec 7, 2010 7:38 AM

Trail Blazers point guard Andre Miller has been suspended one game for his actions against the Clippers on Sunday night.

Miller was suspended for "excessive and unnecessary contact" with Blake Griffin.

Portland will likely start Patrick Mills at point guard on Tuesday against Phoenix.

From about half-court, Miller went full speed and lowered his shoulder into Griffin. The former No. 1 overall pick was knocked down and slid into the basket standard.

"I actually wanted to get him harder," Miller said afterward. "But he knew it was coming, because he got me good - actually a couple of times."
