Kevin Martin could receive a buyout from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Martin is in the final year of his current contract.
The Dallas Mavericks, Cleveland Cavaliers, Miami Heat, Atlanta Hawks and Oklahoma City Thunder all are expected to pursue Martin.
Martin's destination could hinge on where Joe Johnson signs.
The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived Andre Miller.
The roster currently stands at 14 players.
"Andre was a consummate professional and set a good example for our younger players on what it takes to be a pro in this league,” said Timberwolves general manager Milt Newton. “We wish him the best.”
Miller, in his 17th NBA season, played in 26 games for the Wolves this year, averaging 3.4 points, on 62.1% shooting, and 2.2 assists. He has career averages of 12.6 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.6 assists in 1,291 games.
Nikola Pekovic will be out indefinitely as he continues his recovery from surgery on his right Achilles.
Pekovic underwent a debridement and repair of his right Achilles on April 8, 2015.
“Our main concern is for the health of Nikola,” said Timberwolves General Manager Milt Newton. “Our priority is getting him back on the court, playing at a consistent level for a sustained period of time. After much consulting with Nikola, our medical staff and some of the leading doctors in this field, we believe this is a necessary step in that process.”
“A typical recovery from an Achilles surgery is 9-15 months,” said Timberwolves Vice President of Sports Performance Arnie Kander. “While we’ve made significant strides with Nikola since his surgery, we’ve come to the conclusion that to ensure he has the best opportunity for sustained success on the court, we need to continue to focus on his rehab and make that the priority. We will continue to do that for the foreseeable future with the goal of him returning to the court at the appropriate time. We will continue to provide further updates as they relate to his return to action.”
Ricky Rubio was mentioned in trade reports leading up to the deadline.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are considering dealing Rubio in the long-term with the concern they need more shooting at point guard.
"It's fun to see all the trades," Rubio said. "Unless it's you."
The New York Knicks and Milwaukee Bucks were interested in Rubio.
"I mean, it's all rumors and if it happens, it happens," Rubio said. "When your name is out there, it's not fun. But it's part of the business."
Rubio has spent his entire NBA career with the Wolves.
The New York Knicks held talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves on Kevin Martin but nothing materialized.
Martin would like a trade to a team that could potentially reach the playoffs.
The Milwaukee Bucks and Minnesota Timberwolves discussed a Ricky Rubio trade on deadline day but were unable to find common ground on a workable scenario.
The Wolves have been reportedly considering moving on from Rubio to acquire a point guard who is a better perimeter shooter.
The New York Knicks have also discussed a deal with the Wolves for Rubio.
Steve Mills had trade talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves about the New York Knicks acquiring Ricky Rubio.
The Knicks are convinced Rubio won't be dealt before the deadline.
Phil Jackson tends to have a preference for taller guards for his triangle offense.
The Minnesota Timberwolves are unlikely to move Ricky Rubio before the trade deadline, but the organization wants to eventually pair Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins with a better shooter at the position.
The Milwaukee Bucks and New York Knicks are two possible destinations for Rubio.
Jason Kidd has long been enamored with Rubio.

Rubio is averaging just 9.7 points and 8.6 assists in 30.3 minutes per game this season.
Rubio is 25 and the Wolves are clearly building around Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins.

Sam Mitchell is currently the interim head coach but he's not widely expected to remain there in the long-term.
Tom Thibodeau could be a candidate for the job as he remains a coaching free agent.
"I think the people in the Wolves' organization are already looking at Tom Thibodeau," said Windhorst. In fact, sources are telling me there's already been some cursory contact between the Wolves and Thibodeau.
"The Timberwolves job is a great job. It will be low expectations. They have two guys who look like bonafide future annual All-Stars in Wiggins and Towns."
Windhorst also believes Thibodeau would prefer the Wolves' job over the New York Knicks.
