Shabazz Muhammad is considering signing with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Muhammad was previously represented by Lakers' general manager Rob Pelinka.

Muhammad has since been represented by Rich Paul.

The Lakers still have their $4.3 million room exception available.

The Minnesota Timberwolves haven't ruled out re-signing Muhammad, while the New Orleans Pelicans are also interested.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have agreed upon a one-year, partially guaranteed deal with Amile Jefferson.

Jefferson went undrafted out of Duke in 2017.

Jefferson averaged 2.2 points and 3.6 rebounds in 11.0 minutes per game for the Wolves in Summer League.

The Boston Celtics considered trading for Jimmy Butler, but sources say they had some concerns over how he would mesh with Gordon Hayward both on the court and as personalities. 

Boston could have comfortably beat the Minnesota Timberwolves' offer of Zach LaVine, Kris Dunn and a pick swap.

The Celtics also had interest in Paul George, but there was a fear he would leave for the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent in 2018.

Boston also has Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown as high lottery picks on the wing.

The New Orleans Pelicans and Minnesota Timberwolves are both pursuing Dante Cunningham.

The Pelicans' interest in Cunningham has appeared to increase following the injury to Solomon Hill.

Cunningham joined the Pelicans in 2014.

Andrew Wiggins has filed papers with the NBPA to terminate his relationship with BDA Sports.

Bill Duffy said he had recently been made aware of rival agencies and potential start-up enterprises who were recruiting Wiggins with inducements that included no commission fees on contracts.

Duffy had negotiated Wiggins' five-year, $148 million contract extension with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The NBPA has guidelines that compensate previous agents for deals negotiated under their watch.

"We are disappointed that Andrew made this decision, especially after a three-year partnership where we worked closely with Andrew and his entire family," Duffy told ESPN. "Unfortunately, tampering is a common problem in our industry, and that's part of the reason why I've already been in contact with the NBPA to discuss my rights in this matter. Obviously, whenever Andrew signs the max extension that we negotiated with Minnesota, we will work with the NBPA to make sure that our interests are protected."

The Minnesota Timberwolves are attempting to re-sign Shabazz Muhammad in free agency.

The Wolves allowed Muhammad to become an unrestricted free agent after it looked like he wouldn't fit into their plans. The Wolves can only offer Muhammad the veteran's minimum.

Muhammad's market in free agency has been more tepid than some expected.

Marcus Georges-Hunt has agreed upon a deal with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Georges-Hunt played five games for the Orlando Magic last season.

Georges-Hunt averaged 14.0 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 28.5 minutes per game in Summer League in 2017.

In 2016, Georges-Hunt went undrafted out of Georgia Tech.

Glen Taylor would like to meet with Andrew Wiggins before agreeing to a five-year, $150 million max contract.

"To me, by making this offer, I'm speculating that his contribution to the team will be more in the future," Taylor told The Associated Press. "We've got to be better. He can't be paid just for what he's doing today. He's got to be better.

"So when you're talking about negotiations on his part, I'm already extending to him that I'm willing to meet the max. But there are some things that I need out of him, and that is the commitment to be a better player than you are today."

Taylor said he wants to hear a commitment from Wiggins to work out often in the Twin Cities in the summer and improve all areas of his game to fulfill the obligations that come with a max deal.

"I just think it's important," Taylor said. "If a guy is a real star and he really cares about it, which I think he does, I think it's a commitment. I'm not sure that he wouldn't do it anyway. But I think that's part of the negotiations."

Milt Newton is finalizing a deal to become assistant general manager of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Newton was general manager of the Minnesota Timberwolves under Flip Saunders. Newton was a longtime member of the Washington Wizards' front office.

Milwaukee hired Jon Horst as general manager this offseason.

Karl-Anthony Towns expressed enthusiasm from the Minnesota Timberwolves' moves this summer but he wouldn't say to which extent he was involved.

“For me, what everyone needs to know is that we’ve made great moves,” Towns said. “We made great moves to make ourselves better. I have been very fortunate to be with such a great franchise and the organization is going to do so well from here on out. I think we are building a team that has a great sense of what it wants to be, and also adding players who ooze greatness and ooze winning, it’s just something that is contagious.

“We have done a great job of bringing this new disease to Minnesota.”

Towns will become eligible for a contract extension in 2018.
