Chris Paul Has No Interest In Becoming NBA Head Coach In Retirement

Feb 25, 2020 8:53 AM

Chris Paul is often mentioned as the current player who would make the best future NBA head coach. Paul has long been considered a coach on the floor, but he has no interest in the lifestyle of a head coach when he retires.

"No chance," said Paul. "It's the time. I don't want to travel like that. I want to be around the game as much as possible. I watch every game. But I want to be around my kids and family."

Paul will retire with approximately $300 million in career earnings.

Danilo Gallinari Wanted To Stay With Thunder Past Deadline, Interested In Re-Signing

Feb 25, 2020 8:44 AM

The Oklahoma City Thunder held trade talks at the deadline with the Miami Heat on a deal involving Danilo Gallinari, but he ultimately remained with the franchise.

Gallinari is in his first season with the Thunder following his trade from the Los Angeles Clippers as part of the Paul George package.

Gallinari was asked to comment on remaining with the Thunder after those discussions at the deadline.

“I really wanted to stay to stay here. [It would be] tough to leave such a great atmosphere, great teammates, a group that is winning," said Gallinari. "I wanted to stay.”

Gallinari was also asked about the possibility of re-signing with the Thunder as a free agent this offseason.

“I hope so. It’s not the time now to talk with the team. But in the summer, it’s going to be interesting for me… Definitely, it could be a great option for me to stay here.”

Thunder Discussing Danilo Gallinari Three-Way Trade With Heat, Grizzlies

Feb 5, 2020 11:27 PM

The Miami Heat and Memphis Grizzlies are in discussions with the Oklahoma City Thunder about expanding their Andre Iguodala trade into a three-team deal involving Danilo Gallinari.

The Heat have concurrently pursued a trade for Gallinari in addition to Iguodala.

Memphis is currently slated to receive Justise Winslow as part of the package for Iguodala.

Gallinari is on an expiring contract and it is unclear how he fits into the long-term plans of the Thunder should they keep him beyond the deadline.

The Thunder already own Miami's 2023 first round pick, which is protected in the top-14. As part of this deal, Oklahoma City is trying to get Miami to lift the protection.

Both players are on expiring contracts but would bolster Miami's chances of coming out of the Eastern Conference.

The Memphis Grizzlies have been holding an auction for Iguodala throughout the season and plan on trading him before the deadline.

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been one of the NBA's surprising teams and their appetite for trading Gallinari is believed to have decreased, but haven't ruled out the possibility.
