Joel Embiid On Shooting 3's: 'I Don't Get Disrespected, I Do The Disrespecting"

Jan 30, 2019 3:29 PM

After shooting 6 3's in the Philadelphia 76ers' 121-105 win over the Los Angeles Lakers, Joel Embiid said he felt disrespected by the space the Lakers were giving him on the perimeter.

“I don’t like shooting 3’s, but you’re not going to disrespect me by giving me a lot of space. In that situation, I’m going to shoot it. I’m Joel. I’m Joel Embiid. I don’t get disrespected. I do the disrespecting.”

Embiid is currently shooting 31% on 3's this season with 3.9 attempts per game.

Embiid suffered an injury scare late in the game and went to the locker room after hurting his back. Embiid later said that his back was fine.

Jimmy Butler On His Personality: 'Damn Right I'm Confrontational'

Jan 30, 2019 3:02 PM

Jimmy Butler explained his confrontational nature during a recent episode of the Posted Up With Chris Haynes podcast.

“Damn right I'm confrontational. I am confrontational...I would be the first to tell you, I don't give a damn. I've always been like that. I haven’t said it all the time. I’ve always acted it though. Like if you know me and you’re around me, man, if you not around me everyday, I don’t give a damn what you say because you don’t know what I go through," said Butler.

Butler said he modeled his work ethic and approach to the game after Luol Deng.

Butler added that he doesn't care how he's perceived by other people and that he liked being misunderstood.

"If you just come be around me for X amount of hours, X amount of days, you’ll be like, ‘ah, I get it. I understand. I know a little bit about him. I know why he do what he do. I know why he think the way that he thinks. I know why he move the way that he move.’ But you’re not (around me.) You only see bits and pieces from what you get out of the media or from what somebody is telling you."

Giannis Wants To Pick Russell Westbrook, Joel Embiid For All-Star Team

Jan 25, 2019 1:59 AM

After getting voted as an All-Star captain, Giannis Antetokounmpo said he wants to bring Joel Embiid and Russell Westbrook together on the same team.

"It's all about love. I'm a lover, not a fighter. I'm gonna pick Joel Embiid. If I can pick Joel Embiid and Russell Westbrook on the same team, I'll do it."

Embiid and Westbrook had a minor scuffle towards the end of the Thunder's 117-115 win over the Sixers last weekend. Westbrook said afterwards that he and Embiid were "not cool".

Markelle Fultz Rejoins 76ers, Continues Shoulder Therapy

Jan 19, 2019 5:02 PM

Markelle Fultz has rejoined the Philadelphia 76ers as he continues therapy on his shoulder condition.

Fultz hasn't played a game since leaving the team on November 21st. He was diagnosed with thoracic outlet syndrome on December 6th, and has been working with therapists in Los Angeles.

There is still no timetable on Fultz returning to the court, although he is pushing to return this season.

Fultz's agent Raymond Brothers added in early December that his condition was physical and not mental.

"People were saying it was a mental problem, and it is not. There's no way you're the No. 1 pick in the world and all of a sudden you aren't able to consistently raise your arms to shoot a basketball. Something is physically wrong. Now we have the answer to that problem."

Ben Simmons After Loss To Hawks: Sixers 'Too Soft'

Jan 12, 2019 2:03 PM

Ben Simmons said that the Philadelphia 76ers needed to be more physical on the defensive end following a 123-121 home loss against the Atlanta Hawks. The Hawks scored 62 points in the paint and outrebounded the Sixers 44-30.

Joel Embiid missed the game with a sore ankle.

"I think we were too soft...I just don't think we're physical enough. I think defensively, we're not taking it personal enough when guys score on us. It should be a pride thing when somebody scores; you should be frustrated every time," said Simmons.

It was the second time this season that Simmons described the team as "soft".

Jimmy Butler disagreed with Simmons' assessment.

"I don't like the word 'soft...I'm not gonna say that anybody's soft. I just think that we got beat in every aspect of the game. They came out from the jump and did what they wanted to do, and they did that for 48 straight minutes...I hope we're still together. Nobody pointing fingers at anybody."
